If we don’t say something about the negative side effects of Prednisone, who will?

Watch this video to hear how Prednisone affected me and why I want you to share your story with me.

For many patients, the side effects of Prednisone can feel catastrophic and can even last a lifetime. For me, the drug was terrifying. I have no psychiatric history or history of depression and yet I was having lucid suicidal fantasies at the half-life of the drug each day while tapering from 1000 mg. I knew it was the Prednisone and not me, but it did not make it easier and left me questioning, does the benefit outweigh the cost? There is no proof that Prednisone contributed to the reduction of inflammation during my Optic Neuritis attacks.

There are instances in which Prednisone can help a medical situation and save a life. However, while other treatments could help my issue and other health issues, without the same side effects, patients lack access to alternatives.

Prednisone was developed in 1954 and is inexpensive. The COVID-19 vaccine was developed and rolled out in less than a year. It is fair and time to demand alternatives to Prednisone.

My goal is to push big phamra and insurance providers on giving patients alternatives to Prednisone. I don’t know how I will do this exactly, but I know I can’t do it alone.

Please share your story of how Prednisone's side effects negatively impacted your life in 250 words. My goal is to get these stories into the hands of decision-makers and get patients a better solution.
